We select applicants that meet the following requirements: share a similar mission, contribute to furthering LEAP’s mission to alleviate poverty through sustainable programs   and meet our criteria for maturity and capability at effectively and efficiently delivering on their mission. Our equivalency review will consist of LEAP’s “NGO Capability Maturity Model assessment tool”. This tool will evaluate applicant NGOs, to assess their maturity and capability at effectively and efficiently delivering on their mission, using the following 8 evaluation criteria: Purpose, Strategy, Governance, Administration, Fundraising, Communication, Operating Model, Volunteers and System. Assessments will be conducted and reviewed by the “Funding and Donations Committee” and the application will be scored accordingly. We may also partner with third party partners such as Qudurat, 3QA or Alfanar to conduct those assessments and due diligence.

We will only consider applicants that align with our mission of alleviating poverty in Lebanon through sustainable programs. We will not, under no circumstances, get in a partnership or affiliation with any applicant that is directly or indirectly involved with any political party or individual as we would like to remain politically neutral.

In order to ensure proper accounting and transparency, we will require progress and final written reports that address how funds were used and ensure that funds were used for the purposes for which they were intended.

In the event of misuse, LEAP will discontinue granting funds to the recipient and request that the misused money be refunded. Depending on the sponsored project, due diligence and reporting might be conducted by our partners such as Alfanar. For more information, please check Measuring Success or contact us with any questions.

As a pre-condition to the issuance of a charitable contribution, we will require the recipient to certify that they are in compliance with all laws, statutes, and regulations restricting U.S. persons from dealing with any individuals, entities, or groups subject to OFAC sanctions.

In order to ensure proper accounting and transparency, we will require progress and final written reports that address how funds were used and ensure that funds were used for the purposes for which they were intended.

More specifically, LEAP will require that an organization shows fiscal responsibility, including:

appropriate measures to reduce the risk that its assets would be used for non-charitable purposes or exploitation by terrorist organizations and/or their support networks; and sufficient auditing or accounting controls to trace services or commodities between delivery by the partner (applicant) and/or service provider and use by the grantee.

We are committed to keeping our overhead expenses as low as possible. In order to sustain our mission, we will allocate a MAXIMUM of 10 % of our gross revenue towards our overhead cost.

100 % of our net revenue will go towards funding our sponsored programs.

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” Navajo Proverb.

We strongly believe that, by supporting ambitious social enterprises to develop sustainable revenue streams, we are able to break the cycle of donor dependency. We at LEAP don’t just rely on charitable intention alone but we expect and measure a social return on the funds we contribute. We focus solely  on social ventures that aim to be self-sufficient, assuring our donors and partners that the value of their contributions will be multiplied long after our exit.

The applicant grantor will fill out a project application form. Once LEAP receives a complete project application, it will be assessed based on LEAP’s Project Impact Assessment Tool and will be scored accordingly. LEAP’s Project Impact Assessment Tool will evaluate projects according to the following criteria:

  1. How this project submitted by the applicant will seek to influence or benefit the target population.
  2. What benefits (i.e. results) is the applicant seeking to achieve.
  3. How long will it take to achieve the results (time frame).
  4. What capacity and availability of capacity does the applicant have to manage the project and achieve results (leadership, staffing, resources, usage of resources)
  5. How will the applicant and others achieve this project, activities, strategies, logistics, resources, etc.
  6.  Where and under what circumstances will the applicant perform the work and achieve the results (i.e. context)
  7. Why does the applicant believe that its theoretical project will bear out (i.e. assumptions)

Assessments will be conducted and reviewed by the “Funding and Donations Committee” and the application will be scored accordingly. A satisfactory score will be eligible for funding, the project will be added to LEAP’s portfolio and presented to our donors on our website. We may also partner with third party partners such as Qudurat, 3QA or Alfanar to conduct those assessments and due diligence.
